Pre-requisites

Applicants who have an undergraduate degree who were not accounting majors will be considered for admission. Introductory Financial Accounting and Introductory Managerial Accounting courses will need to be completed prior to beginning the Certificate in Accounting Fundamentals. The two introductory courses are not available online through the University of Connecticut.

Graduates of the certificate who are interested in earning a Master of Science in Accounting degree will be eligible to apply upon pending satisfactory academic performance (3.0+) in the Accounting Fundamentals courses. Graduates of the Certificate in Accounting Fundamentals may apply two of the four certificate courses (6 credit hours) toward the MSA degree requirements.

Application Instructions

Applications to the Accounting Fundamentals Certificate are taken online only.  In addition to application questions, applicants must upload four short-answer essays, and provide relationship and contact information for one individual who can provide a letter of recommendation (recommendation must come from a professional source or faculty), a current resume, and transcripts from all universities they have attended.  The Graduate School assesses a $75 application fee.

Admission is typically for the fall semester. For preferred consideration, apply by June 1.  Admission decisions may be made in approximately three to five weeks upon completion of the application.
